When I saw the following headline on Android Guys over the weekend, I could only respond with, “Good.” It comes from a Reuters report which noted that Samsung would include Android in 50 percent of its handsets going forward. That can only be a good thing. Sure, Samsung might be gaining traction with its Bada OS, which is also good. Anyone who has used a Samsung OS prior to Bada knows what Im talking about. I remember the hype around the Samsung Instinct, and then absolutely abhorring it once I got to play with it. It wasn’t intuitive, it didn’t run all that well, and it didn’t help that it was on a pretty crappy device.
WIth Android, maybe Samsung has a shot. I’ve never been the biggest fan of their hardware, though. I knew two people foolish enough to buy the Glyde when it came out, and in addition to the same crappy OS that the Instinct ran, the Glyde screen was horrible. Both of theirs cracked within a couple of months. I’m not sure if anyone else experienced that, but it certainly soured me on Samsung hardware.
Still, it’s encouraging to hear that they’ll be using Android on their future handsets. As it stands, they have the Behold 2. Anyone have one and enjoy it?
