Over 100 Different Android Phone Choices in 2010

Posted by Joe on February 16, 2010 | 18 comments | Filed under : gPhones

There are already over 100 different Android phone choices worldwide scheduled to be made available in 2010 after the recent announcements at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Google CEO Eric Schmidt declared today at the Mobile World Congress keynote that Google and their hardware partners are now shipping 60,000 Android handsets each day.

That would total almost 22 million Android handsets a year which is in line with iPhone’s historical yearly sales.

Surely this trend will increase for Android as approximately 50 Android phones are currently on the market and that number will at least double by the end of this year based on the Android phones reported to be coming out as tracked here at GoogleAndBlog.

Huawei U8220, U8226 and U8230 are all essentially the same hardware as the T-Mobile Pulse. The only difference is they target different regions and have very minor cosmetic differences.
The Huawei U8100 and U8110 will be the T-Mobile Pulse Mini.

Will the Kogan Agora ever see the light of day?

I wasn't sure on those Huawei phone IDs and especially the Pulse Mini reference IDs.

Thank You, I will update.

As far as the Kogan Agora which was supposed to have came out over a year ago as the 2nd Android phone after the G1, there is no release date yet, but the manufacturer still claims it will eventually be released.

I am looking for a comprehensive list of all Android Devices (i.e HP smartbook), not just phones. Would that be possible to compile?

Any idea what the ratio is of possible versions of Android being released on these phones? (excluding ones already available) I would hope that 2.1(or even 2.0) will start showing up on more phones. The current trend of phones being released with 1.5/16 (mostly 1.6) with the promise of a 2.0/2.1 update in the near future is kind of annoying as a developer. Phones should be shipping with the latest version of Android instead of older ones.

Thanks for the great list though, I'll be keeping an eye on it for future reference as the time for an upgrade draws near.

as far as I know, the Zii Triniti is not for sale……

Foxda C8901, might be in your list under another name (http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/sJZv4yIeOyGM...

And there are 3 ZTE phones:
Blade: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/pKicSc-mLJxU...
Smooth: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/59r72gK1-ZEw...
Racer: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/itf3NLUseVIQ...
Again, there is a good chance for these phones to be in your list already with a different name.

General Mobile has more phone in the pipeline, in the brochure I got at MWC they have 5: Brava, Cosmos (released March), Cosmos 2 (June), Touchstone (Q3 2010) and DST L1.

Raphael,

Great updates to the list, I had some but others were missing.

I added them to the main list at http://www.andgeeks.com/faq-about-google-and...

Thank You!

Is the Tiger G3 really based on Android? I asked a business selling this cell phone on the Internet and I was told that it is not the case.
