Android Dev Phone 1 owners are currently getting their Holiday Update which is similar to the RC33 update G1 owners in the US have received while the UK G1s wait.
The Android Dev Phone or ADP1 are SIM-unlocked and hardware-unlocked Android phones for developers which are essentially the same as the G1 and costs around $400.
Not too sure why it is called the Holiday Update since it seems a couple months late, but it is what pops up as the update name for ADP1 owners and was confirmed in AndBlogs.
You can also manually upload the update courtesy of JesusFreke.
There was a worry for ADP1 owners who felt they would be left out of the update process since they are not service provider dependent.
Google Android Engineer, Jean-Baptiste Qeru, who is the most vocal of the Android engineers in the Google Groups for Android had this to say to those concerns just this morning:
“We’re still working on it. Like I said, it’s really harder than it seems. If we could have done it earlier, we would have. If we could do it now, we would. Right now, we can’t, but we’re still working on making it happen as soon as possible. That is really all I’m allowed to say about this matter.”
The update itself seemed to have started trickling out shortly after his posting.
Now the only ones left behind are those in the UK who are still stuck on RC8 from last year, at least most got the G1 for free.
