Thumbplay brings its unlimited music service to Android

If you have an eclectic taste in music but don’t have the budget to max, subscription music services have probably brightened your day. There are a number of companies offering these, though Rhapsody seems to have a good portion of the market. A new entrant has been Thumbplay. The mobile application company released its music service for BlackBerry last year, and after that released an unlimited music service. That is now available for Android, so you can enjoy unlimited on-demand music.

Thumbplay has expanded its catalog since its initial release, and now features over 8 million tracks. You can play them while you have a live cellular connection. Soon enough you’ll be able to cache songs as well. That feature is available for BlackBerry users, and should be ready for Android users soon enough. That’s a huge bonus if you’re traveling through cell-free zones.

Here’s one of the cooler features of the application. You can import your existing iTunes library, so you can take advantage of your home music collection while you’re on the go. Just select a playlist from your computer, and it will be available on your smartphone as well. You can sync playlists back to your computer from your smartphone as well.

Even better for the consumer, Thumbplay has priced their service at the same level as Rhapsody. While Rhapsody might have a wider selection of songs, but not by a lot. Thumbplay compensates, though, with the iTunes integration. If you’re looking for a subscription music service on Android you could do a lot worse than these two. Check them out at the Market, where you can get a free trial to see which is really right for you.
