Using the iPhone and its App Store as a guide you reach the logical conclusion that to make the most money selling Android applications is to sell a farting Bejeweled diamond.
You would think some great utilitarian application or at the very least an addictive game would make the most money in the mobile application market, but recent history proves otherwise.
Joel Comm has made approximately $10,000 a day after Apple‘s cut with his iFart Mobile application selling at only 99 cents – up to nearly $30,000 on Christmas Day alone according to VentureBeat.
Joel is a great Internet marketer as he has proven in the past how to make money online so this is just a recent affirmation of his skill in spotting how to make money online.
This is such a cash cow it has even prodded him to go to court over FART TERMINOLOGY!
Joel is suing Air-O-Matic in front of a Federal judge in Colorado to rule over if “pull my finger” is a common phrase that cannot be trademarked.
If it goes to court or not is debatable, but is another smart Internet PR move that undoubtably leads to selling more iFarts.
To take even this a step further there was the “I Am Rich” app for the iPhone selling for $1000, which was just a ruby on the screen – Amazingly there were at least 8 sales!
Now in the Android Market for the maximum price allowed of $200 is the “I Am Richer” application which for pure originality is a blue diamond rather than a red ruby.
You COULD create something that actually has some value like Steve Demeter did with Trism which is similar to puzzle game, Bejeweled – this netted him a quarter million in just 2 months!
So the logical conclusion is if you combine a high price point with a high volume of interest and some usefulness you discover people really want a farting diamond on their phone that they can play Bejeweled with.
Who will produce and sell this for Android?!?!?
