Dan Morrill, a Google Developer Advocate for Android, stated this week he was surprised by the rise of demand for skins and the theme “phenomenon” for Android.
Dan stated in the Android Discuss Google Group that Google engineers have noticed this trend in the desire of users to skin their Android phone and will be adding this as a theme category in The Android Market shortly.

Android Dev Phone 1 owners are currently getting their Holiday Update which is similar to the RC33 update G1 owners in the US have received while the UK G1s wait.
The Android Dev Phone or ADP1 are SIM-unlocked and hardware-unlocked Android phones for developers which are essentially the same as the G1 and costs around $400.

The creators of ShopSavvy, Big in Japan, will be holding an AndroidDevCamp in Dallas Texas on Saturday October 25th plus providing free pizza.
The stated purpose is to have Dallas be the most represented city in the 2nd Android Developer Challenge.
Dallas had two winners of the first Android Developer Challenge with Rylan Barnes creating GoCart, now ShopSavvy, and Jason Hudgins who developed TuneWiki – Both of whom will be at the event.
