If we’re to believe a post on the site Mobile Review (not in English), Google is introduce a Nexus tablet to the market. This makes sense in a way, as it could serve the same function as the Nexus One did in the fledgling Android handset market back in December 2009. It would apparently by produced by LG, which seems an unlikely partner at first glance. But as we’ve seen from Google, they’re not afraid to hop around manufacturers: the Nexus one was HTC, while the Nexus S is Samsung. We’re looking at mid-summer to early fall, so don’t get your hopes up quite yet. There’s still aways to go with this, if we’re even going to see it at all. [BGR]

With CTIA going on this week we’re going to get plenty of information flowing. We’ll start from the top, with the Galaxy Tab. As expected, Samsung revealed both the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 8.9 today. They’re both dual-core 1GHz tablets, and will have both HSPA+ and Wi-Fi versions. Samsung is also boasting that they’re the world’s thinnest tablets, but such distinctions rarely last long when it comes to technology. The 10.1 inch version will be available June 8, at $499 for the 16GB version and $599 for 32GB. The 8.9 will follow in early summer, at $469 for the 16GB and $569 for 32GB. No word on the HSPA+ versions. [Android Central]

That’s the LG Optimus 2X, a dual-core smartphone that has already hit shelves overseas. It appears that it’s coming to the US soon, specifically on T-Mobile. We learned late last night that while the originally rumored March 23 launch date will pass us by without event, the real release date won’t come too long afterward. T-Mobile is expected to announce the device, dubbed the G2x, at CTIA. This announcement will also include the G-Slate, an 8.9-inch tablet. We don’t have much in terms of pricing, but look for the devices to become available on April 20. [TmoNews]

We’ve been waiting for an announcement on a WiFi Xoom, which we’ve heard would be available by early April. It appears as though we’ll get the treat a little early. On March 27 the device will hit many retail outlets, including Best Buy, Costco, RadioShack, Staples, Walmart, and select Sam’s Club locations. You can also get one from Amazon. It’s a 32GB model, and it’ll cost you $599. [Boy Genius Report]

Finally. Early this morning, Verizon put an end to the suspense. We’ve been waiting for the HTC Thunderbolt for a while now, but more importantly it has been almost a month since the original rumored release date. Now we can say with certainty that it becomes available on Thursday, March 17th. You can nab one at a Verizon Wireless store, or online, for $249.99. What’s cool: you can get mobile hotspot access for free through May 15. What’s not cool: Best Buy is going to offer the device, but raise the price to $299.99 on Saturday. Their loss, I guess. That’s the Kyocera Echo, a dual-screen Android phone headed for Sprint. It’s a neat idea, though the lack of native use for the dual-screen format might limit its practical value. It still looks like a neat one, though, and it’s certainly something we’ll keep our eyes on. If you want to take a look, you’ll get a chance on April 17. That’s when it will hit Sprint shelves. It won’t cost more than most new single-screen smartphones, $199.99 on a two-=year contract. [Android Central]

There is no such thing as a slow news day in Android. If there were I don’t think the internet could handle dozens of blogs making dozens of posts per day. But some days there’s a lack of a big story that trumps the rest. We’re prepared for those days. When one inevitably arises, as it did today, we’re ready with our quickies section. That will let you stay on top of the latest in Android in a quick and bullet-pointed manner.

So you know how the Thunderbolt was set for a release around February 23? And then how it was delayed? And how we’re still kind of hoping that it comes out shortly after the iPad? Yeah, don’t let it ruin your other plans. Verizon CTO Tony Melone talked about LTE, and his vague terms regarding the arrival of LTE smartphones — “before the second half of the year” — make it sound as though it will be a matter of months, rather than weeks, before we see the Thunderbolt. This isn’t to say that they’re going to wait until the last week of June to deliver the highly anticipated handset, but it’s still in the question. [Droid Life]

So much today. Where to start?
We could go with this image. It’s comScore’s top smartphone platforms report. Will you look at that? Android jumped 7.7 points from the October 2010 period to gain 31.2 percent of the smartphone market share. Combined with a 5.4 point dip from RIM, that leaves Android in the lead. There are probably some metrics that have Android still in second or third, but we knew that at some point this year it would take the lead. Now is as good a time as any. [Engadget]

If you’re thinking about getting an Android device and Verizon is your carrier of choice, now is the time to grab one. They’re knocking $100 off the price of their Android lineup, as you can see in the image above. That means, after signing a two-year contract, you can get the Droid X for just $50. This could be just some inventory clearing measures to make room for some incoming handsets, such as the Droid Bionic and the Thunderbolt. But it’s still a good deal. [Boy Genius Report]
